Virtual Sri Lanka is a mobile application that was developed to re-juvanize the tourism industry around the world. This mobile application facilitates virtual traveling and keeps people safe and stays home while traveling through this mobile platform. Users of this mobile application gets to experience 360 photographs of more than eighty famous tour destinations in the Eastern province and Polonnaruwa district of Sri Lanka and also navigate and have a walkthrough experience of four famous destinations in four district that has been covered namely Ampara, Batticaloa, Polonnaruwa and Trincomalee.

This application gives free access to 360 images and rich descriptive content of all these eighty destinations and two 3D models. However, two 3D models of the most visited and the most liked destinations are restricted as premium content. These two, out of four destinations were shortlisted as most prefered and selected based on a public poll including Sri Lankan and foreign tourists as participants. These two destinations are Batticaloa fort and Galviharaya. Batticaloa fort is well known for its history of ancient rulers and its view of Sunrise over the kallady bridge and sunset being near the Batticaloa lagoon. Galviharaya, having its significance of holding four poses of lord Buddha in one single large granite face is famous among travelers.

This is considered as one of the best rock carvings of ancient Sinhalese. Also, this is the only example in the country that shows up with four monumental Buddha statues from one single natural rock. The above significance makes these two places get categorized under premium content in the mobile application.
